Prelude

Greetings to you! My name is Jonathan Wang Rui Ming (ECU id: 10025452) and this is my Portfolio. I believe that an individual’s portfolio is essential as it not allows one to recognize the developments he/she has gone through but it too is a living and changing collection of records that reflect a person’s accomplishments, skills, experiences they have attained throughout the years.

As a Singaporean chinese student, I hold great pride in my heritage, background and upbringing. I come from a family who believes firmly that one should never forget his/her roots. This inculcation has and is still to date very clear to me and even as I progress through this modern society, I am thankful that I do hold onto some of the very strong beliefs of the Chinese culture. One of the greatest quotes and beliefs in which we Chinese subscribe to and which I would like to share is that by Confucius who once asserted:

人要活到老,学到老的
Men Ought not only to Live Long but to Learn Long

With this in mind, this portfolio has therefore been created and is intended for two reasons. Firstly, I would like this Portfolio to be a testament of my growth and journey in my university life; explaining why and how I finally decided to study Psychology, and, Secondly, I would like this Portfolio to be a reflection of what I have learnt through this course and ultimately how these acquired knowledge may help me in my goal of gaining employment upon graduation. I do recognize that some of the things which will be shared and as detailed in this Portfolio do overlap some of the previous work as shown in Assignment 1 (PDP) and 2 (Job preparation notes). However, I will try to bring in some new insights into my life as a student and therefore making it as original and unique as it should be.

In this portfolio, i hope the reader would be able to see the developmental, reflective and representational aspects of my portfolio.

The developmental aspect is important as this is where i share with you the reader, the things i have done over a period of time.

I would also include much reflection into this portfolio as it would further explain my insights, experiences and feelings (both likings and dislikes) and how these have been influential in my progress and development.

Last but not least, i would also be presenting a significant number of my achievements which i feel is in relation to my ultimate goal in life. I will not present everything but will carefully select these items of representation.

The makeup of this Portfolio has been divided into six separate components.
